I made the switch from Traktor to Rekordbox 3 years ago. Beatgridding is a very tedious process and the analysis alogorithms never knew how handle anything else beyond a straight 4-4 house track. Change one tag of a an album? Be prepared to locate tge album one file at a time. File management was absolutely the worst possible, auto locate never found anything, and weird-ass file structure of library data makes things very slow. VDJ is a clear top dog in that front though. Library features are some of most feature rich out of all DJ software. Rekordbox - My favorite for straight DJing. Library features are very robust and file management is great. Lack of flexible beatgrids is such a huge omission that it can’t be overlooked. Traktor - Gold standard for midi features. They still innovate with new features, but the look, UI and library features is showing it’s age. Library management is just plain garbage compared to Traktor or Rekordbox. If DVS preformance or routines is your thing than Serato is the one to pick. Serato - most well polished an feature rich DVS implementation. My experience with RB is limited to RB5, so take it with a grain of salt. My take on using all 3 of them for a significant amount of time. With all that said, Rekordbox or Serato, personal choice, both has it's ups and downs, but they are both reliable. General design is very dated, waveforms are ugly as hell. + Anti-drift + Has been dealing with DVS for a very long time so the experience and expertise is there. + majority of all DJ products on the market can use Serato. Only usable with Pioneer Products - Almost all products under 1000 euro has bad phono pre-amps. Rekordbox + Looks good (overall graphic design and waveforms) + Good FX + Able to do longer Looping and Beat jump + Stability + Uses less CPU resources (not a problem if you got a 1000 euro + Laptop). Serato has something called Anti-drift that makes the BPM static after not nudging the platter for awhile, cool feature. Serato's build in FX package sounds bad, it miss warmth, echo and reverb is decent (might be a personal taste) compared to Rekordbox. A few years ago I would never recommend Rekordbox, but they are leaping away from Serato right now. The stability on Serato and Rekordbox is pretty much the same. Adjusting the DVS signal in Serato is only manual while Rekordbox can do it automatically (Important feature for me since I hate do pixel-perfect movement with the laptop mousepad). Beatjump on Serato is maxed on 32 bars while Rekordbox goes to 512 I think (I like to beatjump). Overall, Serato is burning more CPU then Rekordbox (which is weird in a way), you still shouldn't have a problem, but I just wanted to make note of it. But I currently use Serato dvs now cause my mixer is Serato DVS Ready. I always loved Rekordbox design better then Serato (Hope for a visiual and waveform update soon or Serato). Serato and Rekordbox is quite similiar, they are both stable and the overall experience has to do with the general feel and functions of either Serato and Rekordbox. I have both used Rekordbox and Serato DVS (Cannot say anything about Traktor).
